Project description:

Cherry Capital Airport Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting Facility is located just west of the new airport terminal building off of South Airport Road. The owner requested that AAI design the ARFF building to help create a “campus” feeling and harmonize with the “prairie” style architecture of the terminal building. The program requirements for the ARFF includes meeting the latest FAA design circulars for security and emergency response time, as well as providing office tenant build-out space on the second floor. AAI’s design includes 4 foot building overhangs and 14 foot overhangs at the vehicle door to protect against snow & water at door thresholds. AAI’s specifications included gear turn-out storage racks, de-contamination shower, chain hoist for vehicle loading, in-floor heat and exhaust at vehicle parking area.
